Welcome to my page!
My name is Jamiya Johnson and I am a Junior Communication Studies and Spanish double major at Monmouth College. In the Spring of 2019 I had the luxury to study abroad in Merida, Mexico, where I gained a new perspective on education. As a double major, it is my goal to be able to effectively communicate in two different languages. This summer I also partook in an internship at Monmouth College in the Student Affairs Office. This internship allowed me to focus on my organizational skills, effective communication and group work. Staying very active on my campus I am a musician, athlete, First Year Mentor and Program Director for WPFS Radio. I would say that I am very empathetic, connected, and creative. My strong skills include public speaking, organization, and group work. I am very open minded, and I enjoy meeting others. Please feel free to contact me if there are any questions.
The Merida Experience
Spring 2019
During my time in Merida, Mexico I studied Spanish, Environmental Science, and partook in two different internships. An elementary english teacher and A Spanish Art Class. This experience enhanced my Spanish speaking abilities, and gave me a global perspective on a culture outside of my own. This experience changed my life, and has given me more appreciation for my education and my future.

What to do When
As a Student Affairs Intern, I spent a majority of my time organizing and planning events for Freshman Orientation.This Artifact is a a planned out schedule I created for the week of Freshman Orientation. The purpose of this agenda was to make sure that our entire group of Orientation Leaders and Mentors were on the same page at all times. I believe that this showcases my organizational and time management skills very well. Creating this agenda took around a month to complete, as we had to ensure that every event was happening before creating set dates and times.
Creative Art
This art, is something I created this summer for my internship. We used it as a symbol on our Orientation door decks, as well as our schedules. I wanted to include this as an extra artifact because it showcases my creativity. Not only did I hand draw this, but I also had to edit it online, so this is considered a graphic design piece. I was able to use my creativity and photo editing skills to create this piece.
Audio Editing Artifact
Audio PSA - Cold And Flu Season
This is my very first Audio - PSA which I recently created in my Multi-media and Production class. This highlights my strong audio editing abilities, as well as my creativity. I believe that this project reflects my strength because we were required to create our own PSA, and add in Sound FX while making sure that the PSA itself was executed in a smooth flow-like manner. This project required creativity, patience, persistence, and extreme listening skills in order combine sounds. We began this project by creating multiple drafts, where we then edited, and created a Final draft. This is my finished product, and I am very please with how it turned out. In the beginning I was very nervous because I did not yet have the skills required to fulfill this assignment. However I can now say that I am proficient in Adobe Audition.
